Council for Children's Rights Sponsors Indicators on Children and Youth

In February 2010, Council for Children's Rights entered into partnership with the Institute, becoming the first (of what is now six) Indicator Partner.  Through this partnership, the Institute has collected a wealth of data on children and youth in Mecklenburg County to help inform the work of Council for Children's Rights and their many partner agencies, all of which is accessible through their portal on the Regional Indicators website.

A letter from Executive Director Brett Loftis

As the community's voice for the rights of children, we are thrilled about our partnership with the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute.  The strategic resources that the Institute provides are critical to the success of our community's children.  We believe that our collective effort to create a comprehensive set of community indicators will serve as a guidepost as we monitor the health, safety and education of all our children.  Through our work with child-serving agencies, funders and community leaders, we leverage the data and research provided by the Institute to drive lasting community change.

We believe that when our community is well-informed about the needs of our children, that we will all act to protect them and treat them as our most valuable resource.  Our work at the Council for Children's Rights is dependent on great community partners like the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute.  Together, we can all make our community the best place to raise a child and to be a child.

We work for our children today and tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Brett A. Loftis JD
